For those out there with a copy of the Nikon 17-55 f/2.8, do you think the wide-open sharpness of my copy is acceptable? These pictures were taken on my D300, and the subject was about 15 feet away. The focus point was on the logo on the t-shirt. The shutter speed on the f/5.6 version was 1/1000. I'm not trying to be a pixel-peeper here, but I'm thinking that for a higher-end lens, I should be seeing more clarity when shooting wide open. I see the softness in all my pictures taken at larger apertures, which led me to taking this series of test shots. I have tried auto focus fine-tune, and ended up finding that 0 seemed to be the best with both 45 degree and flat focus targets. Thoughts?
