School and ACC

When it comes to children with ACC: know that in a school setting a child can and should get the proper acommodations with their ACC. Each person with ACC is different and so you need to learn the acommodations needed for the child and their ACC. If the child has problems in math see what can be done to help in that class (calculators are my best friends for math!) In note taking try with typing or writing the notes up and also tape recorders for classes are a good thing too! I love having my tape recorder in class so that I'm able to keep up. The possibilities for help are numerous, parents just talk to the administation of the school. Special needs programs are great help too! The people who work in the Special needs programs are trained to understand and help people with disabilities and disorders! Talk to them! And if they have no clue what ACC is then tell them, they'll more than likely want to learn more of this and if your just finding out they'll learn with you!!

School and ACC can be pretty tough, especially if your in college. I, personally, go to a school that has no Special needs program and have to do most everything on my own. Its tough but hey learning with my professors about my ACC has been a growing experience for all involved. Each year it seems like the professors want to try and help more and more, the more I learn about ACC the more my professors WANT to learn about it.
