A big THANK YOU to all the parents who graciously give of their time to assist with lunch duty every week.  Thanks also to those who have volunteered to assemble classroom materials, coordinate book orders and make copies.  You make my job easier.  Thank you!

A note about homework:

Reminder:  Homework packets come home every Friday in a baggie with your child's name.  That homework packet AND the baggie - are due back the following Friday.  Typically the homework packet includes the spelling contract, a math page - coordinating with what we're learning at school, a language arts page or social studies or science page.  This homework packet (inside the baggie) comprises 10% of your child's overall grade.   Saxon math pages are optional nightly homework and will be rewarded with a griffin buck when returned the next day (please do not return these in the homework baggies.)

  Additionally, please remember me when you clean out your bookcases, kiddo magazines or kid-friendly pamphlets, menus maps or environmental print material.  I'm always looking for donations of books (love 'em) to add reading material to the classroom.  Thanks!

Check out the Technology page on ACA's website: http://www.lowerytech.org/index/1.html  .  You will find some specific websites for first grade that relate to our curriculum.   Some of the math and reading sites are worth a visit.  Please note - children should always be closely supervised when using the internet.  Our internet access is located in a family area in our home - and in the classroom - children are closely supervised while using approved sites.  If you cannot monitor their use - it's not worth the risk!  Let's keep these kiddos safe!
