Left Handed Bandage Scissors. Scissor Truck. Left Handed Bandage Scissors
Dammit! This is my thumb. Now, I'm not in the habit of dressing it up, but I had a good reason. Yesterday, I was grinding some steel to prep it for a weld that had to be made, and the grinder jumped on a bump in the steel, and immediately cut into the side and top of my thumb. The side had a nifty hole that looked like cherry Jello (tm) with a flap of skin that was burned hard from the wheel (so hard that I had to cut it off with scissors), and the tip looked like someone was testing a Ginzu knife on it. ...it made the tip of my thumb look like it had a butt, and even cut into my nail. (The entire top cut was about a eighth of an inch deep) After setting down the grinder, climbing down the 16' ladder and dropping about 479 "F" bombs (a few proceeded by "mother"), I cleaned it up, bandaged it, and returned to work. I hope it heals ok (I didn't go to the doctor), 'cause I really don't want the tip of my thumb to look like a little butt for the rest of my life. It was throbbing for a while, then sore this morning, and tonight it's not too bad, as long as I don't bang it on anything accidentally. (Ever try NOT to bang a hurt digit? It seems you do it 100 times more often than you'd bang it when it's not hurt.) At first I thought "Thank goodness it wasn't my left hand" (yes, I'm left handed), but I was rudely reminded how much I also use my right. Ahh... good times. Good times. Dammit. Free at last!
Oh yes baby! Out of the cast -even if I did it on my own with scissors and pliars. See the doc said 6 weeks and it's been over six weeks and they haven't called me yet, couldn't reach them on the phone either today. It's been warm here and the cast was wet and sticky and smelled of old socks. No WAY that could be good for healing. Tomorrow I'm getting a good bandage to sturdy it up until the doc can look at it and remove the metal pin. At least, I THINK they will. Not very smart to inform a patient when he's just woken up after surgery. It's not as bad as it looks, the general redness on the palm is from hours on the mousemat :). No pic of the back of the hand now, it was hard enough with the 50mm lens to get far enough from the hand to get focus (used a bathroom mirror) AND hold the camera upside down with the left hand. I'll ask someone tomorrow.
