Where I Sew

This is where I sew. It was "purpose-built" originally as a sewing table with the Expedit desk and cube system for a sewing table. It lived briefly as a cutting table with a combination of Malm and Expedit. It was too low and I loved how sturdy and big it is, so it's returned to a sewing table. It hols some personal bolts as well as some shop bolts. There are more dull cabinets with doors holding more shop bolts. We have a small sunny room, so it's a challenge making sure no sunlight hits the fabric. We've got it sorted though! The canisters hold odds and ends but mostly yarn. The cup with the scissors is circa 1976. It's all a bit IKEA and I hate the wall color and the fact that they are concrete.The daggy looking windows? Apparently heritage listed. After a little search I've learned our building is considered one of the best Art Deco places in Bondi/Waverley. We rent so I live with odd eggshell walls. so I'm living with it by taping up random inspiration with Washi Tape

Learners were delighted to learn that once the freezer paper has been cut out once it can be reused for another fabric leaf. The freezer paper can be peeled of the fabric and laid down on more fabric (shiny side down) - ironed and cut out. The tip to cut just inside the outer edge of the paper not only produces a leaf a little smaller - so that no two leaves are the same - but also makes the cutting out process easier. It is easier to cut through freezer paper and fabric than fabric alone. The only down side of this method is that it can blunt the fabric scissors over time. It is best not to use 'best' fabric scissors for this method.
