Teach Magic, Circus Skills, & Comedy Classes After School and During the Summer!

Calling all creative and interesting people! Abra-Kid-Abra is looking to hire instructors to teach magic and circus classes after school and during the summer for camps. All of the tricks are very easy to learn. Artistic? Some of our classes have an art component. You don't have to have any performing, magic, circus, or comedy experience, just a desire to learn basic, fun tricks. WE PAY FOR TRAININGS! We are in schools all over the metro area. Our starting pay is $20 per hour-long-class! We also have opportunities year round to do camps, workshops and shows.

Some Information About the Position

It is important that we let you know that this position does require that you have your own transportation, and a clean background check. It is strongly recommended that you also have experience working with children, and a willingness to have a LOT of FUN!

About After School Classes:

The job consists of teaching after school classes at local elementary schools for one hour after regular school ends, which is generally some time between 3pm and 4pm.  We teach the kids a variety of magic tricks and other skills which we will train you on how to perform and teach.

Most classes will meet once per week, usually for 6-8 sessions, so if you are confirmed for a class, you are committed for that series of classes. Most instructors that have the availability will ultimately take on 2-4 classes per week, each meeting on a different day of the week for one hour in the afternoon.

We pay $20-$25 per class, and this entails arriving 15 minutes early to get situated and set up.  It usually only takes about 5 minutes to clean up and get out after a class.  This will also require you to transport equipment for each class to and from the school(s) at which you instruct.

New hires for Abra-Kid-Abra are usually given 2 classes to start with during their first cycle of classes, so that we don't overwhelm new instructors and so that they have time to get to know the tricks and curriculum.  It's all relatively easy stuff to do and to teach, but we like to make sure that every one's comfortable with what they're doing in the classroom.  After that, most of our instructors take on 3-4 after school classes per week if they wish.

If this sounds like something you'd be interested in trying out, then click here to see how to apply.

Right now we are currently focusing on getting ready for the after-school season. We are always accepting application to keep on file for those interested in summer camp work as well though:

Interested in doing summer camps with us?

Most of the information to the left is for after school instructors, but applies to summer camp instructors as well. The only difference is that our summer camp instructors will facilitate camps that last half and full days, usually from 9am-noon, or 9am-3pm, instead of only an hour after school.

To apply for camp positions, fill out the same online application that after school instructors do. Directions on how to do this can be found here.
