At GCG, I contributed by performing media and market research and developing corresponding strategic messaging for a wide range of companies from various sectors including pharmaceutics, medical device technology, bio-genetics, gas & oil and telecommunications.

At Westat, a contract research organization, I worked as a part-time field professional providing data visualization and information management support to State Coordinators responsible for coordinating the administration of the National Assessment of Educational Progress within their States' Department of Education.

HAGER SHARP, INC.

January 2006 - August 2007

 

At Hager Sharp, a small, woman-owned social-marketing firm based in Washington, DC, I worked on the education account, most prominently coordinating outreach and dissemination for the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP).  

 

My roles and responsibilities included: crafting copy for data reports; monitoring research and policy papers relevant to educational assessment; creating targeted materials for relevant stakeholders and audience members in and around educational assessment; providing creative and usability support to web-design; producing web-based videos promoting online data tools and resources; and tracking contract deliverables as needed.

 For a very short period, I co-managed the Earth Legacy Campaign, a diverse group of civil society organizations (headed by the Natural Resources Defense Council) seeking to restore US leadership in the protection of the global environment.

UCLA SOCIAL SCIENCES AND PUBLIC POLICY RESEARCH

During my junior and senior years, I was an undergraduate research assistant to Professor Meredith Phillips, concentrating in longitudinal educational analysis.  Mostly data entry, database management, and interview transcription.

During my sophomore year of college I interned at NLC, reporting on relevant legislation in its member publication "Nation's Weekly."

CENTER FOR THE STUDY OF THE PRESIDENCY

Conducted research on the relationship between presidential electoral politics in Florida vis-a-vis the foreign policy stance toward Cuba.

 

Guest Student Researcher

Conducted research (in conjunction with the University of Havana) studying the historical pretensions of the economic embargo implemented by the United States against the Cuban government.
