Reflections 2011-12: Entries Due October 21st
Diversity means...
Entries for the 2011-12 Reflections Program are due on October 21st. If your child is interested in submitting a piece in any of the six categories -- Visual Arts, Literature, Music Composition, Choreography, Film, or Photography, please download the rules below. There is one document with general rules, as well as one for each of the individual categories. The entry form is also below, as well as consent forms for any children used as "extras" in your child's work!
The PTA will host a workshop in the Abingdon Art Room on Wednesday, October 12 from 6:30-7:30 pm for students who want an opportunity to work on their entries. We will have some materials available for students to work with and a great environment for encouraging creative thought!
If you have any questions, contact Tina at tinamasc@verizon.net or Michelle at michellecmarston@gmail.com.
Congratulations to our 2010-11 winners!!
Some budding poets, artists, and musicians at Abingdon took part in the 2010-11 PTA Reflections Program, an annual contest meant to encourage students to express their artistic talents in a variety of media. This year’s theme was “Together, we can …” Abingdon students, separated by grades K-2 and 3-5, competed in the visual arts, photography, and literature categories. The winner of each category at the school level is sent to participate at the county level.
We're extra proud of 4th grader Akash Chaterjee who won countywide for the Intermediate Visual Arts Competition. His artwork, titled "Together we can make the world a greener place," will represent Arlington County at the Northern Virginia competition. This is his winning submission:
