The Diocese of Aberdeen and Orkney is in the north-east of Scotland and comprises the City of Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, a small part of Moray and the island groups of Orkney and Shetland. There are 45 congregations and two religious communities. The Cathedral is St Andrews Cathedral, King Street. The diocese is one of seven diocese in the Scottish Episcopal Church (SEC) which is part of the world-wide Anglican Communion. The diocese is linked with the Diocese of Connecticut and diocese of Umtata, South Africa. Historically the first Anglican bishop for the United States was ordained in Longacre thus giving birth to the modern day Anglican Communion. The diocesan bishop is Rt Rev'd Dr Bob Gillies who was consecrated in September 2007. The diocesan monthly newsheet Centrepost can be downloaded from this site as a PDF.
