Due Date: Thursday, October 27th
Objectives:
- Learn the meaning of responsibility
- How they can be responsible
Standards: AL4.4 - Begin to accept responsibility for one's own behavior
Directions:
Facilitator Say: Today we are going to learn about what being responsible means and how we can be responsible. Listen carefully as I tell you all about it!
Say: Responsibility is controlling your words and actions, doing your
best and never blaming others for your mistakes. Being responsible for
a job means that you are the one who makes sure it is done correctly
and on time.
Say: When you show that your are dependable, you show responsibility.
When you tell someone that you will do something, that person is
counting on you to "pull your weight." When you do a good job and
finish on time, you are showing that you are responsible. A
responsible person always does his/her best and does not blame others
for his/her mistakes.
Say: You also show responsibility by the cho9ices you make. Every day
you make many decisions which affect your life. some choices are small,
such as choosing what to wear or what to eat for lunch. Some
decisions, such as the way you treat others and do your chores, affect
other people. When you make good choices, you are showing others you
are responsible.
Say: You can be responsible by taking care of your belongings. You
should take care of your school supplies, library books, and money. If
you own a pet, it is counting on you to feed it, give it water, and
keep it clean. When you do these things, you show responsibility.
Say: We also count on other people to be responsible. Imagine what
the world would be like if no one took responsibility for taking out
trash or cleaning up messes. You count on others to be responsible,
just as others count on you.
- When you have finished telling the student about responsibility, and are ready to go to the next step, X out of here, and go back into the Moodle lesson where the Smiley is and click on "I am ready to watch the movie about responsibility!"
