posted ‎‎Jul 24, 2009 1:50 PM‎‎ by Sandeep Gupta   [ updated ‎‎Jul 24, 2009 2:09 PM‎‎ ]

Aashritha is happy to announce that the selection of new children for the current academic year (2009-2010) is almost over. As promised, Aashritha continues to deliver education to needy children across India. The children adopted last year, continue to be under the same program.

A synopsis of 2008-2009:

AbInitio: In the first year, Aashritha adopted 5 individual children from Andhra Pradesh and Assam for their academic progress and enrolled them to private schools. Aashritha also adopted an elementary school in Andhra Pradesh to provide better means of education to more than 70 students. Thus facilitating the faculty of primary education to more than 75 children in India under the Project AbInitio.
H.E.L.P : The Success of AbInitio project motivated Aashritha to extend the support to students seeking higher education. Aashritha HELPed two under-graduation students initiate and continue their respective education. A girl from Uttar Pradesh and a boy from Andhra Pradesh were the first two to be enrolled under Project HELP.
L.I.F.E : They say, "Health is Wealth". Aashritha takes this seriously, and believes that a sound health would make people as independent as a sound education would. To extend our support to people with critical health issue, Aashritha launched project LIFE. A woman from Andhra Pradesh was the first and the only case that was taken by Aashritha. However, Aashritha's focus still is on basic primary education and will always be.

Every year we celebrate our birthdays and receive gifts and spend a lot of money on buying expensive presents for our friends and family on their special days. But, ever thought of giving 'LIFE' as a gift to someone? Wouldn't this be the most wonderful gift ever in our lifetime?

Aashritha turns 1 year old on 23rd February 2009. Exactly one year back, a thought to serve humanity brought few like-minded friends together and they started their journey via Aashritha. Over the past 1 year, Aashritha has taken up (and will continue supporting) 7 children's primary education, degree sponsorship for 2 students and infrastructure enhancement for 1 elementary school via many cases and projects.

Aashritha - Continues the 'Paathshaala' program

posted ‎‎Feb 3, 2009 6:59 AM‎‎ by Sandeep Gupta   [ updated ‎‎Feb 3, 2009 8:43 AM‎‎ ]

We started the 'Paathshaala' program on 15th August 2008. The first school to be adopted under this is a small elementary school in Andra Pradesh. Continuing the support towards improving the infrastructure and enabling better access to basic utilities, Aashritha arranged a gift distribution event for the students of the school on the 59th Republic Day of India (26th January 2009). Aashritha financed all the gifts, which included a SS plate and glass for each student and special items for outstanding performers in the school.

The elementary school runs under the 'Mid-Day Meal' program, which offers one time meal to all the students in the school. Aashritha observed that the students were offered meals in very old wares, and decided to give a better set to each student. The funds from Aashritha were used to purchase these glass-n-plate sets along with some gifts for the students.

The event of Republic Day was celebrated with happiness and lots of smiling faces. See the photos from this event below.

Project H.E.L.P. - Higher Education and Learning Program, was launched on September 2008 as a result of Creative Thinking by the Aashritha Coordinators (Aacharyas). Under this project Aashritha board decided to help, financially challenged students who are burdened by the high costs of Degree Studies in India. Many students in India complete the school education and clear the qualifying exams for Degree Studies in various fields but are not able to pursue the ambition due to financial blockages. Aashritha decided to help few such select cases and support the Higher Education in order to improve the future lives of many such able and deserving candidates, along with the prime motive of providing primary and secondary level school education to many. Aashritha - Celebrates Independence Day by launching the 'Paathshala' program

posted ‎‎Aug 19, 2008 6:35 AM‎‎ by Aashritha Group   [ updated ‎‎Aug 19, 2008 7:43 AM‎‎ ]

With the aim of improving the overall standard of education in rural India, Aashritha has launched the 'Paathshala' program. Under this program, Aashritha will support schools/classrooms where the basic level of infrastructure or facilities are missing. Aashritha will donate a limited amount to these schools and make sure that the funds are utilised by the school administrators in an effective way. The basics includes notebook, textbook, stationaries and educational items like, atlas, globe, geometry-sets, colours, slates, dictionary, posters of leaders and few sports items. A small contribution can really impact the level of education for dozens of children at once. The basic aim of 'Paathshala' is to thus support a small elementary school, there by impacting various student at once.

Aashritha believes that to make a change you have to be the change.

What else could serve as the best day to celebrate this other than the 61st Indian Independence Day. Jayachandra -Founder of Aashritha, visited an elementary school in Chittoor, a district in state of Andhra Pradesh, India to the mark this celebration. Not only did we get the chance to celebrate the freedom and spirit of independence with the small and simply wonderful students of the school, we also donated Rupees Three Thousand (via Aashritha cheque) to the head-master of the school, promising a better standard of education to 70 students at once. The smile and curiosity on their faces were human gestures beyond any words.
