I was woken up at 8am on a Sunday morning by a man in my bedroom knocking on the door and telling me "It's an emergency, we had to come in. There's water in your apartment." Now, I'm on the 38th of 39 floors, so the liklihood of something going wrong in the apartment above me is pretty danged unlikely, no? Nonetheless, the apartment above the one adjacent to mine had a problem with its dishwasher hose and leaked water five floors down, including into the one directly next to mine. I got water not from the ceiling, but creeping in under my front door from the hallway. So they tore up my carpet in about ten minutes flat and came in the next day to remove the baseboards (which a week later still haven't been replaced yet). Thankfully they replaced the carpet before I had people over for Thanksgiving (the day before) but it's still a hassle. It could've been worse, though. I didn't really have that much stuff in the hall closet yet, so I didn't lose too much.

Unloading the dishwasher? Little helpers, Soap and Water!

I was loading the dishwasher and the spoons kept disapearing........hummm Not sure what it is with puppies and dishwashers but as soon as the door comes down they coming running over to check it out... Big dogs know there is no prewash cycle in our house but it remined me of this old joke.... Soap and Water A man was asked to dinner by one of his friends. When he sat down at the table, he noticed that the dishes were the dirtiest that he had ever seen in his life. "Were these dishes ever washed?" he asked his hostess, running his fingers over the grit and grime. She replied, "They're as clean as soap and water could get them." He felt a bit apprehensive, but started eating anyway. It was really delicious and he said so, despite the dirty dishes. When dinner was over, the hostess took the dishes outside and yelled, "Here Soap! Here Water! Come here boys!"
