J. Alden Weir was considered one of his generation's best American painters.  He studied at the National Academy of Design, Ecole des Beaux-Art and many others.  According to critics, Weir was influence by his friends painters Childe Hassam and John Henry Twachtman.  Weir produced Connecticut landscapes that showed the natural beauty of the local area.  Weir Farm is located in Branchville, CT and open to the public.
