  • Metric units, or the metric system
  • A binary function of a topological space that gives, for any two points of the space, a value equal to the distance between them, or to a value treated as analogous to distance for the purpose of analysis
  • based on the meter as a standard of measurement; "the metric system"; "metrical equivalents"
  • measured: the rhythmic arrangement of syllables
    drill
  • a tool with a sharp point and cutting edges for making holes in hard materials (usually rotating rapidly or by repeated blows)

1:100 Macross - ADR-05-Mk.II Destroid "Manticore" (Kit bashing/scratch-built), Work in progress
Work is going on - rough work completed. Guns are OOB, but the ammunition feed belts are still missing, as well as (planned) flexible hydraulic hoses. Radar is also not installed yet. This mecha kit is intended to be a design alternative to the ADR-04 Defender. Same chassis (old pieces, from the Tomahawk kit that came with the Factory), but armed with four massive gatling guns! Totally fictious, hence its name "Manticore", inspired by the mythical beast which will shoot volleys of iron spikes from its tail onto its enemies. Quite a good match? Equipment Type: anti-aircraft robot, series 05 Government: U.N. Spacy Manufacturer: Viggers/Chrauler Introduction: August 2012 Unofficial codename: Whistler, Lawn Mower Accommodation: 1 pilot and 1 radar operator Dimensions: height 10.7 meters (hull only), 12.4 meters (incl. surveillance antenna); length 5,6 meters; width 6,8 meters Mass: 29.8 metric tons Power Plant: Kranss-Maffai MT830 thermonuclear reactor developing 2750 shp; auxillary fuel generator AOS-895-3 rated at 810 kW. Propulsion: many x low-thrust vernier thrusters beneath multipurpose hook/handles. Design Features: 'Nimrod' Mk. III tracking radar with dish antenna, MPDR 'Argus' range setting and surveillance radar, starlight scope; fully enclosed cockpit. Armament: 4 x 37 mm air-cooled 6-barrel gatling guns, Type Bofors KDF-11B (firing at 2.000 or 4.000 RPM, standard 1.550 rounds each). Optional Equipment: 2 x large capacity ammunition drums. 01Parts01-Transmission
When I broke my leg I was out in a junkyard looking for one of these, a T-5 five speed manual transmission out of a 1991 Chevy S-10. Today I found one in a junkyard not far from here. Although I have other parts in my shop to add to this set, I think it is appropriate to start with this major component. The bell housing to the right is from a 1955 or 56 Chevy with the manual transmission. I found it in a barn about 10 years ago. This bell housing has provisions for side mounts and a starter. Amazingly, the bolt patterns on the transmission and the bell housing are the same. The only difference is that the transmission is drilled for a metric bolt and the bell housing is threaded good old American 1/2-13". Enlarging the transmission bolt holes with a 1/2" drill fixes that. Any idea as to what I am building. There is at least one clue here.
