Motel 8, Winner, SD What happens when your Rodeway Inn franchise agreement runs out? Give your hotel a new name! This however, is low. "Motel 8?". Hmm...I wonder how they got that name? The hotel was a "Super 8" until about two years or so ago, when they switched to "Rodeway Inn". The change to "Motel 8" happened sometime this Spring. This is reminding me of another such place in Mission SD. The Taco John's restaurant closed there in the early 2000s, and someone reopened it as "Taco JohnsTON". That taco restaurant didn't last long though. Motel 6 Sign and Logo
Motel 6 got its name from the fact that when the franchise began, every room was only $6.00 per night. Now they go anywhere from around $30 to $60. Seems to me they've increased their rates faster than inflation. Sitll it is often a good bargain, but not always the best to deal available as it once was. Mom and Pop places often beat them in both price and comfort, but you've got to shop around.
