Gap International relocates to London
Gap International relocates to London
With sales gone stale in the US, the chain looks to reorganise its global initiatives, hoping to cash in on international growth. Performance overseas for the apparel group has gone from strength to strength, with the brand appealing as a new and novel American retailer. Stephen Sunnucks will head up Gap Inc’s new London based team, managing four overseas units: Europe, Japan, China and franchising. While domestic sales for Gap continue to struggle, the chain is hoping its take on contemporary casual lines will appeal to the growing consumer rate overseas, although according to Sunnucks, competition is “fierce” in Europe: “In each of the markets, we’re facing a set of global competitors — such as Zara and Uniqlo — and local ones, the tried and trusted retailers.” Already operating 530 overseas stores in 32 countries, Gap has announced plans for 190 new store openings worldwide by the end of the year, including 10 in both China and Italy. The retailer also announced plans to double its franchise stores to 400 by 2015.

Mr Salesman leans forward to engage Ms Punter while Mr Punter steps back to feign very moderate interest in the spiel. ?25981 seems a rather too bizarrely precise figure to start negotiating from, and why has the local Land Rover dealership taken to punting out what are merely, in the price context of a well specced 4x4, rag tops for the little lady. This used to be a British Leyland dealership up until the eighties but then they flogged off the workshop and stores area to become a vast complex of flats and have just retained the showroom on the high road. The showroom itself has gone from being an exclusively Jaguar place to a Land Rover dealership and now dabbles outside it's core franchise. It strikes me as daft that in England dealerships are tied to, largely, a single brand. It also strikes me that Boxster is a great name for a car and if one wants a bit more than an MX5, why not?
