On my walk today, I went to the Antiques Market and bought some pretty linen handkerchiefs and four photo postcards. The last time I was there their photo and postcard collection was flagging from what it had been. But I had faith, and sure enough, they've revamped the collection and it's better organized and the portrait section has grown, although they used to have such lovely framed tintypes which have now all been sold. I managed to find some portraits that I like quite well, though. Some have a bit of imperfection or damage, but if it's not enough to interfere and the price is right, then I don't worry about it... I thought the details in this one were lovely, with the lace collar and sleeves, possibly homemade and sewn onto the dress. My Great Grandmother and her Sister crocheted such items. I love her head band, and the buttons on her dress too. This one is nice for its simplicity too, and ensure that she definitely is the main focus of this portrait.
