CIRCLE PLACEMATS : HOW FOLD NAPKINS : DISCOUNT CLOTH NAPKINS. Circle Placemats
May 17, 2011: Quadraplacemat This is actually a shot of a circular placemat from Ikea. The actual placemat is also yellow. While it was not a bad photo on it's own, even in abstract, there wasn't a lot of there there. The original image is with the center of the concentric circles in the bottom left quadrant. I duplicated the layer three times and flipped in horiz/vert as needed to put the centers in a different quadrant. The I played with the layer modes, then copying, trying something different, etc. This turned out to be the neatest pattern of them. I really like the effect of the various gradients inside of the the various diamond-y shapes. I didn't add any computer generated gradients here at all. Enjoy! Wheel of Fortune Placemats
These are the first placemats that I've ever made. This traditional Wheel of Fortune 10" block is set into a non-traditional squircle (rounded edge square) centered in a 12" square. The red fabric star and bias binding is Robert Kaufman's "Quilter's Linen". The print is "Sakura" for Red Rooster Fabrics DSN#18416. The white is Kona Cotton. I love the texture of the Quilter's Linen, but it bleeds a lot. Fortunately, the Shout Color Catchers prevented the white from turning pink. I used "Warm & White" batting and red Aurifil 50wt Cotton thread for the machine quilting.
