Peltier Wine Cooler - Water Air Cooler - Igloo Maxcold Cooler 150qt Peltier Wine Cooler
Peltier Test My friend Matt and I have embarked on a challenge to build a cooling machine. In this picture, you can see my pre-build. Currently, a 400W peltier is running on 5V ~11A. It's due to be run at 12V, but I need a copper plate first to help spread the hot surface across the heatsink to improve its effectiveness. I'm also waiting for a cool analogue Voltmeter and Ammeter, and a digital but analogue style set of thermometers for measuring the hot and cold sides. I'm using a computer PSU to supply the low voltage, high current I require as 'proper' supplies are vastly more (this PSU was ?27, a bench supply that can output 30A at 12V is upwards of ?150). Currently getting a 15C temperature drop on my large aluminium plate (under the top layer of foam on the heatsink). Peltier A/C Idea
I've been interested in getting a peltier unit working in my shipping container for some cool air during the hot part of the afternoon. I tried hooking up some computer fans below the peltier unit, and using a 13.8V @ 3A power supply. I found I was getting about 20 degrees cooler than the hot side, but still not cold enough to really cool down my shipping container. I suppose the next step is to find a bigger power supply so I can drive the peltier full blast which is 7A. It would be amazing to have a $35 / 80W A/C unit.
