Below Flow Wrap subsurface irrigation can be used in a multitude of applications. It is specially designed to be used with applications that have a slope of more than 8%. It is highly effective in reducing wear in high traffic areas due to the deep root systems. It is also highly effective in irregular shaped and undulated color beds, high wind areas, medians and other grass areas close to pavement, long tree rows and wind breaks, esplanades, botanical gardens, and tennis courts. It is also useful for foundation protection from cracking and heaving. The KISSS subsurface capillary irrigation system is also currently the only viable option for green roof applications. Dispersion layer: The tape on top of the product acts as a boundary between the soil and the emitter and it forces the water to absorb into the capillary fiber before absorbing into the soil. Pushes water out into the geo-textile fiber so that it may be taken up by the surrounding soil particles. Does not allow the so-called "chimney effect" experienced with drip irrigation where water tunnels it way to the surface or travels straight downwards. Capillary Fiber: Used to transmit the water to the soil after it has been wetted by the pressure compensating non-leaking (CNL) emitters. Water travels through the geo-textile fiber at a rate roughly 30,000 times faster than soil (depending on soil type). The fiber also maintains perfect moisture uniformity along its length. Pressure compensating Non-leaking emitter: Inside the system is high quality drip tape with a specially designed check-valve emitter that is pressure compensating to maintain a uniform flow rate from the system and prevents downward drainage in highly sloped areas. Emitters acts as a "check valve" which doesn't allow water and debris to enter the system through suction.
