This blatant advertisement at the back of a rickshaw in Lahore proclaims (and there is NO government / private agency to check / verify these claims, FDA is the name of a bird in this society) to "CURE" any and every illness. The ad reads: 1. "Dil kay val (valves) closed waley mariz 10 din mein shafayab" <patients with cardiac valvular disorders are cured in ten days (where is the noble prize for medicne? GIVE it to this guy please!!), 2. Arthritis, Tendonitis and all types of pains and aches are cured. 3. Paralysis, Parkinsonism, Haemorrhoids. 4. Asthma and Scleroderma. 5. Impotence and people who cant conceive, infertility. 6. Leucorrhoea, Jaundice, Hepatitis, Diabetes all are cured within days at this "ISLAMIC" dawakhana (drug house, clinic). --There is no regulating agency for the quackery in Pakistan. Anyone (like this guy who has advertised here) is allowed to kill and mint millions. Scientific and technological advance has done nothing to change the inner face of the society and culture which thrives on stigmata, traditions, feudal mindsets and related illnesses. By adding the name "islamic" we secure ourselves a place in heaven and also become rich by every illicit means including playing with the lives of people. Lawlessness is at its peak and government claims it has enlightened the country. President is busy selling his book anyway. p.s. The unconventional systems of medicine are proven to be effective, no body denies that fact. But the quackry and tall claims to cure diabetes and valvular heart disease without even proper training is a slap on the face of the community and health system which lacks any substantial policy of accountability and there is no federal or provincial body to regulate these walking bombs which take so many innocent (and ignorant) lives every year. Another reason people flock to them is the rising cost of proper medical care where average Pakistani has no access to the health care system.
