I have to use a combination of plug socket and extensions, wrench alone,socket/wrench,and ratchet/socket to loosen and tighten the plugs, they will only come out and go back in without the socket on the plug, and every cylinder needs a different combo for clearance with the head/header configuration. It's not a job to do when the engine is hot,and the engine turns over hard with the plugs installed and the cylinder on the compression stroke,so I set the valve lash cold, and rechecked the setting after the engine was hot to see how much difference I had.The lash will "grow" aprox. .003" when hot,and return to original cold clearance when the engine cools down,so I set the lash to .011"cold to get .014" hot.

If you look closely at the bottom of the tensioner arm, you can see an small box. That uses the end of a 3/8" socket wrench to plug in and give you leverage. My wrench was too thick. Went to the parts store, but the breaking bar was too thick (took my wrench and they were the same). But they had a special tool to do it. $22 for a cheap one that I couldn't return, or $38 for a nice one that I could return as it would be their rental.
