what i made today: mismatched napkins
what i made today: mismatched napkins
for my first project i made a set of 6 mismatched napkins. recently our dryer broke and i'm loathe to fix it when i really want to replace it, so while i figure out what i'm going to do about it, i've been hanging laundry on a rack by the woodstove. it's brought me into intimate contact with all of our napkins and they are a sorry bunch. most of them are crap and it's been on my list to make new ones and get rid of the horrible ones. i'm on my way to replacing the whole crappy lot!

Just for the fun of it, I dipped one end of a rolled-up paper napkin into some sort of liquid fuel, then left it in an ashtray to burn. At first, I was fascinated by the path that the fire would take and the streaks of red that would inhabit the paper, but I was blown away by the yellow-green bias of the fuel-soaked bit against the pink-blue bias of the rest of it.
