Hello and welcome to the online home of Five Star Piano Service!

My name is Bobbo Byrnes and I'll be your friendly neighborhood piano technician.

Frequently Asked Questions

1) How long have you been tuning pianos?

I've been tuning pianos across Southern California since 2001 and am a graduate of the American School of Piano Tuning.

2) How much does a piano tuning cost?

Typically $100.  That's for uprights, spinets, grands.  The only time it really gets expensive is if you have a square grand (very rare - I've only ever seen one) or an upright player piano.  Those are $200 and $150 respectively.

3) My piano hasn't been tuned in a while is that a problem?

It's never a problem but sometimes if it's been a long time between tunings or if a piano is significantly out of tune I recommend that you get two tunings in a 3-month period.  I have a special discounted rate for that of $150 ($75 per occasion).  After that I recommend annual tunings to keep the instrument in good condition.

4) How often should my piano be tuned?

You should get your piano tuned at least once a year, more often if you are using it for recording purposes.

5) Bobbo, you're so handsome have you ever considered modeling?

Funny you should ask.  I have done my time in front of the lens but it's been a while.
