Aluminum Adjustable Wrench. Sorby Paring Chisel Aluminum Adjustable Wrench
IMG 3704.JPG And like that, the project came to a halt for the night, which is fine, as it was getting late. The 10-32 tap just wasn't strong enough, and shattered mightily as I twisted it. I wasn't using the tap-handle there at the time. I was already past what it could hold, and the tap kept slipping free. I switched to an adjustable wrench, and had the tap twisting a few degrees before it finally gave out. I'll have to see if I can use pliers to twist it back out, or cut it flat, and use my Spin-Out bit to dig it out of there. I also need to check my supply of taps. I'm sure I have another 10-32 around here somewhere. I might try some of my tap-cutting fluid. I didn't think I'd need it on aluminum, though. MKS pedal dust cover removal
Always a nuisance to remove dust covers from the old Campagnolo pedals if you did not have their tool. However, this really does protect the caps (aluminum alloy in this case) better than if they had used covers which accepted a simple open-end or adjustable Crescent wrench. If you're wondering why Campy came up with the idea of using tiny notches in the first place... it is not a concern here, but the tiny grip points allow you to use very little movement of the wrench to lock onto the caps - which can be an issue with Quill-style racing pedals (with closed extended cage ends).
