The 557th participatedin the American Campaign and in the European, African, Middle Eastern Campaign, was authorized the the WWII Victory Medal, and served in the Army of occupation.

Also; in 1950; The Department of the Army General Order contained the following:
"557th AAA Automatic Wpns Bn (Mobile), battery C, (attached to the 9th Infantry Division)
9th Infantry Division Cited in the order of the day of the Belgiam Army, by Charles, Prince of Belgiam, Regent of the Kingdomwith the following Citation:
..."Operating under the command of the VIIS Army Corps, the 9th Infantry Division of the United States, and attached units, crossed the Belgiam border and during the period from 3-13 September, 1944, defeated the German Army in a decisive manner, in the sector of Florennes-Namur-Dinant-Givet, liberating all the Belgiam territory included in this zone. During that time also, the passsage of the Meuse was forced at Dinant and they advanced on the Huy-Theuxaxis.The division and the attached units then pushed back the enemy beyond the German border to within the Siegfried fortifications.
