Day of infamy, Of politics. Another Day in Delaware. Went to Delaware on this 9/11 for a full day of portal redesign meetings. Lovely. Exhausting. (I need to make a movie!) Also decided today to go out and see Miriam and George (it's also his birthday) at the end of the month. Jeremy and Asia of course had twins, George and Heidi just had Ryan a month ago, Miriam's due in November, and I just found out Sush and Nina are pregnant! Insane! Obama was great tonight in his portion of the National Service Forum on CNN. McCain was good too, but Obama was really substantive, really clear, and really inspiring. He brought up a new rationale to elect him as President: the office of the President is uniquely suited to inspire Americans to service. Both military and non-military. He had some cool ideas about getting not just the youth to volunteer, but adults and seniors, for example, to volunteer being matched up one-on-one with a returning vet, to help them re-acclimate, make sure they've got job opportunities, someone to talk to, etc. I thought there were a bunch of really innovative plans. There was even a moment when I, 33 years old with a masters of fine arts and a very good paying salary, was inspired by his words to the point where I sort of daydreamed about joining the military or the foreign service in some capacity. It was just a moment. But still! The power of his words to move! We need this man as President. America deserves it!
