"Accelerated Math" by Renaissance Learning

 

This has become a popular software package, and it's been designed for students struggling with their math.  From what I've heard, there are versions for other subjects too.  The main feature of this is that customized worksheets can be prepared for each student based on their particular weaknesses.  Immediate feedback is provided to the student after he/she turns in a completed worksheet.  Another worksheet is then generated immediately, based on the errors made on the first worksheet.  This process continues until mastery is achieved.  It's especially great for math labs and tutoring situations.

Remote Desktop (see also Network Adminstration) - a software program that allows the instructor control and access to all computers within that network. This is useful for many instructional purposes such as

• Locking the screens of all the computers in order to gain all the students' attention
• Taking control of one students computer in order to demonstrate instructions, or clarify instructions to the student
  
• Broadcast the instructor's screen onto all computers on that network for demonstrations.
