CC (Carbon Copy):  in an email, a CC is a copy of an email sent to the addressee of the sender, but not directly to the person that receives the carbon copy. In other words, the person receiving the CC receives the same email as those who are the regular "to" field addressees. The difference from the BCC is that the BCC is NOT shown to all other recepients while a CC is.

Screen Capture: With a make, do the following: Command, Shift, 4. Put over area you want pick that is taken of. If you are using a PC, you will need to open a photo editing program such as Picasa and minimize it. Then put your cursor on the screen you want to print. Press the print screen button on your keyboard. The image will automatically appear in the photo editing program.

BCC (Blank Carbon Copy): it does not show other email and addresses that it has been sent to. The advantage of using the BCC on emails is that you protect the privacy of those receiving your correspondence.

Attaching Email Documents: There are two ways to attach a document to an email.  The first and most commonly used is done by pressing the attachment button below the sender information on the compose page. Then you simply search for the location of the file you wish to attach and click the attach button.  The second way does not always work and should only be used if you are sure the sender can receive it. For this method you copy and paste your document into the contents of the email and it will appear either as a document or a picture.

Questions regarding material covered in lectures:  If you have a question, make a note of the where on the log the material was covered that you are unclear about.  Go to the recorded lectures and either fast forward to that point or use that information as a reference when contacting Prof. Herr or the TA's.(ETM 6/11)

Email Groups: Communicating through email – Create groups within your email program.  This allows you to send the same email to a whole group of people so that you don’t have to resend the email seperately to each individual in a group.

Google GroupsCreating Google Groups can be an effective way to communicate with groups you are a member of.  A practical use in high school is for the whole science department, for example, to set up a google group where they can post information that is of interest to other teachers, administrators, and aides that are a part of the science department.  For example, a spreadsheet document could be placed in the google group where members could add to a list of science supplies that are needed by the department.

To create a Google group, you must first have a google account.  Once you log into your google account, you can select groups from the “more” pull-down tab.  At the bottom of the page that comes up, you can select “Create a group.”  Follow the prompts and don’t forget to save your work.

     - groups.google.com - The teacher (owner) should write in CAPITAL LETTERS and the students should contribute in lowercase letters.

BLOGGING-If you forget to save something in your blog, you can always go back to Blogger acct.
