personal introductionEveryone
can tell a story, and every story told would be different. Some stories can be told with words, some
stories with a visual vocabulary of an artist. My paintings are narratives of a mythic and spiritual
journey through childhood to death. The
paintings are stories of a life spent contemplating childhood, first as a
child, then as a parent looking back on the memories of childhood. Most of these stories are mythic tales of
childhood, the dark tales that are not often told and rarely believed. My paintings have a type of beauty
which is deep, emotional and mysterious – though not a beauty exclusive of the
intellect. My paintings are
technically complex with deep rich colors. Their attractive quality masks a dark psychological and sociological
content dealing with humanity’s self brutalization – especially in regards to
the abuse of children. Since receiving
my Master’s Degree from California State University, Northridge in 2003, I have been showing through out Southern California
and Oregon since 1995, most notable the 2009 “Man’s
Inhumanity to Man,” Brand Library, City of Glendale, and solo shows at the
Firehouse Gallery in Grant’s Pass, Oregon and at the College of the Sequoias in
Visalia, California.
