The Receiving Room
The Receiving Room The owners of a nineteenth-century two-story chose to utilize the original receiving room as an everyday den, but wanted to feature a Victorian sense of adventure in the decor. Thus, the tray ceiling was painted to look as if it were an aviary at a centennial exhibition, leather suitcases and African drums were employed as accessories, a camera and tripod became a lamp, and porcelain animals hid in every corner. As Teddy Roosevelt might say, “Dee-lightful!”
