Apr 20: In trying to cut down on monthly costs of getting around Vic I have been doing some research into electric bicycles. Sadly to say that the kit I was looking at is apparently illegal in Canada and all other options are either crap and/or look just too dam lame for a l33t ninj4 to ride. I then stumbled onto a hub motor for motorcycles! You can order it here. This thing looks awesome! It takes at least half the hassle out of the build and leaves all the engine compartment space for batteries. I am looking at a 2007 and up Honda CBR125R as the donor bike and this 72v 60AH LiFePo4 battery pack (though it may be overkill and I may be able to get by with the 40AH...more research to do on that part). Apr 21: I just heard back from Mark at Enertrac and he is using a Kelly KBL12401I controller. So far the 60AH battery is looking like a better choice. Apr 22: After thought and budgeting I am thinking that as this is my first build that I should not go all out on it (It's looking like I'm going to have to sell my car to pay for this project) *anyone looking for a 06 Smart ForTwo Pure Coup?* This is still in the planning faze and I will post more as things develop. May 1: Update. I got the bike, but I have not had any bites on the car, so I'm taking the car off the road and wait until I am working again before I go ahead with this project. Please email me if you have any comments or insight.
