I attended a barbeque in Koln's Hiroshima-Nagasaki Park (there's a huge hill made out of WWII rubble). We set up our small disposable grill and within about 5 minutes these tools from the Ornungsamt (Tidiness Office) pulled up in their matching cars (immaculately maintained I might add) and fined us 35 euro for having a grill that was too close to the ground--it might burn the grass you see... It didn't make sense at the time either. Anyway, someone went and got another grill and we went at it, enjoying Nuernburger bratwurst, cripsy bread, and huge pork steaks. After dark, some people lit a bonfire in one of the dumpsters, which meant the firefighters had to come, suit up, and limply spray the meager blaze out. Everyone clapped.
