The SS Minnow VS "The Island"
The SS Minnow VS "The Island"
DAY 1: The Minnow crashes violently against the rocks as the survivors move their way up the shore. The storm grew stronger, causing Gilligan to drop the majority of their emergency supplies on the way to their makeshift camp. After an hour of the Skipper chasing him around and yelling, they survivors of the shipwreck sleep for the night, waiting until rescue arrives. DAY 7: As the survivors wait for rescue, using the Professor's Coconut radio, they pick up a distress call from a French voice. That night, as they discuss the possibilities of never leaving the island, The millionaire and his wife are dragged into the woods by what Mary Ann describes as a “Smoke Monster” DAY 20: The professor and Gilligan search deeper into the jungle, using a coconut milk based metal detector. They stumble upon a Hatch. After gathering the survivors to the location, the Professor uses a Coconut detonator to open it, Skipper and Gilligan travel down. There, they meet Desmond Hume who explains the Hatch and Button. DAY 26: A strange looking French woman approaches and warns of the imminent attack of the “Others”; hostile natives of the Island. She says they're coming for the women. Skipper vows to never let this happen and he, Gilligan, and Desmond join Rousseau to try and ambush them. Meanwhile, the Professor is left to protect Ginger and Mary Ann and to try and get a radio from a nearby crashed plane to work using, you guessed it, coconuts. Flashbacks reveal: The Professor is actually the youngest scientist from the Manhattan Project. He quit the project after discovering its true purpose and was imprisoned at Area 51 until the end of the war to not hinder the progress of the bomb or compromise its secrecy. While in Area 51, he learned to make and use weaponry from electro-magnetic force, weapons that can be used to shut down electrical systems in non-lethal ways. Skipper has a background in the Navy. He was on a battleship during the attack on Pearl Harbor, saw a lot of action in the Pacific theater, and was a Prisoner of War until the bomb was dropped on Nagasaki. Gilligan was in the National Guard after he woosed out of Korea. He was dishonorably discharged for accidentally destroying an entire armory in his bumblings. Afterward, his life was constantly searching for a way to amend his mistakes and master his physical awkwardness, which included learning the practice of Capoeira during a stay in Brazil, which he buried beneath layers of regret after he accidentally killed a man who was mugging him. The movie star, Ginger, has had a faltering career that came to a head when she started abusng marijuana and LSD. The “three hour tour” was a way for her to escape the police, who were looking for her after a botched drug deal, as she was carrying in her luggage. This explains why she chose to bring all he clothes on the boat for such a short trip. Mary Ann was secretly the Millionaire's daughter from an affair from years ago. Her mother told her of her Father's identity on her deathbed. She blames her difficult life on the Millionaire and seeks vengeance by destroying the only thing he truly cares for- his wealth. The Milionaire and his wife are trapped in a loveless marriage- He's afraid to divorce her for fear of losing his money and she because of her social status (It's 1963, so divorce is dishonorable). They had to flee the country with all their money hidden with them to avoid IRS action. Desmond has the same background as the show, only the Island time jumped to 1963. Even though this would take place in 1963, the Island has demonstrated Time Travel capabilities. So, assume that the Others are the ones seen after September 22, 2004. Can the survivors of S.S. Minnow escape the Island?

my cube, part deux
Since I posted the last picture of my cube, my department moved to a different area and I was finally able to unload the monstrously huge monitor in exchange for two lovely 17-inch flat panels. Ahhhh.... And as if that wasn't enough, it's QUIETER! So much easier to write and edit and do my job properly now.
