Welcome to 4CMR

About Us

The Cambridge Centre for Climate Change Mitigation Research (4CMR) is part of the Department of Land Economy of the University of Cambridge. Our broadly interdisciplinary work is directed towards scholarly study of the interactions between energy, environmental and economic systems (E3) as these relate to the challenge of reducing the risks from climate change, primarily through mitigation. For an overview of our research agenda click here.

This site is the portal for researchers to understand our work, and to collaborate with us. It also is a site dedicated to engaging the community of stakeholders -including policy makers - whose decisions on mitigating the risks of climate change will be improved through our research findings.

A University-Wide Resource

We are part of a network of research groups at the University of Cambridge advancing the world's understanding of the inter-related problems of climate change, sustainability, energy, economic prosperity, environmental quality and human health. We carry out much of our work in collaboration with these groups, and can also point you to a research centre of excellence if your interests fall outside what we explore at 4CMR.

Why E3?

Why is our research concerned with integrating energy, environmental and economic processes and policies, rather than focussing on them separately?

4CMR News

Dr. Terry Barker (Director) presented "400 ppmv by 2100: A Combination of Policies for Carbon Pricing and Regulation for Energy and Carbon Efficiency: Results from the E3MG Model" at the UNFCCC Conference of Parties event.

4CMR sponsored members of the Climate Science and
Policy team at the Department of Energy and Climate Change, who met with staff of University centres to discuss needs for policy-relevant research.
