St. Francis House

The Program

" St. Francis House believes that homelessness is an experience, not an identity . . . Together, we believe we can shape solutions to the injustices we see."

St. Francis House is a multi-service day shelter for homeless adults and/or those persons living in a marginal situation.  It provides guests with the following services: a daily meal, clothing, counseling and referrals, medical care, pastoral care and counseling, leisure activities, literacy and English classes, and legal services.  The House serves over 700 individuals daily.

St. Francis House feels called to a service which helps restore human dignity and trust through mutually enriching relationships.  "Being aware of the fragile humanity we share with all our guests, we accept God's invitation to respond to their needs with gracious hospitality, respect, kindness, patience, trust, and hope so as to support and encourage them to a life of greater dignity, self-worth, and harmony." The central mission of SFH is to care for those who cannot help themselves, and to assist those who are capable of becoming self-functioning members of society.
