The Program Seton Manor offers a supportive community living environment for 19 adults living with symptomatic HIV or AIDS. Many of these individuals are recovering from drug addiction, alcoholism, and depression. The program provides individual bedrooms with congregate areas for dining and leisure and 24-hour staff coverage.
Seton Manor is a home, not an institution. Though congregate in nature, it is non-restrictive, relatively unstructured, and takes into account each one's dignity, right to privacy, self-determination and independence. It offers a family of caring relationships with other residents, staff, and volunteers.
Residents, staff, and volunteers reflect the diverse population affected by HIV/AIDS and addiction. This includes adults of various ethnic backgrounds and religious affiliations, all sexual orientations, genders and varying degrees of disability. 4Boston's Role Members of 4Boston at Seton Manor can't truly be classified as "volunteers." It's simply a place for building – and maintaining – personal relationships. During time there, residents and BC students eat, watch movies, play games, laugh, talk, and enjoy each other's company. There are no assigned "tasks," and nothing concrete to "accomplish." Hours Sunday to Friday, 3 to 9 pm . Volunteers typically go one or two days per week (totaling 4 hours/week in all). Everyone attends special events together. Council Member Jenna Peart peartj@bc.edu Location The program is located at: 296 Allston St. , Brighton , MA 02135 . Google Maps For more information . . .
