Video board Finally wired up the video circuit on a protoboard. Here you can see the TMS9918A video chip, a 32K SRAM chip, the 74HC574 latches used to demultiplex the VRAM bus (which is meant to interface with dynamic RAM chips), and assorted logic. The TMS9918A can only address 16K of VRAM, but there's 32K on board, so I connected the highest line of the VRAM chip to a flip-flop. Now I have two 16K "pages" of video memory! I might be able to use this for interesting animation effects, or to rapidly switch between graphics and text mode. Emergency flip flops
At one point a pair of turquoise pants walked by ( all I could see under the door) and must have latched the door from the outside... there was calling for help, an estimate/ "game plan" for sliding me through the 6" under-door space, finally there was signaling for help with self-fashioned emergency flip flops.
