Cheers to you from Starbucks - Coffee shops 2008, #9 This was a tough catch - no tables - in a Sbux designed for serving travelers literally on the fly. I connected the camera on the Gorillapod and put the whole thing on a shelf that holds coffee mugs that they sell, got Lou and Chelsey lined up, hit the timer and jumped into the shot. My first one without a table! We were headed to our connecting flight out of Dallas that would get us to Atlanta, and then from there, home to Baltimore. I saw the coffee shop and jumped in. Since there aren't any tables and it would be pretty obvious that I'd be taking pictures inside their shop, I told her what I was working on with the series and asked if it would be OK to take a shot. When she said yes, I asked her if she'd like to be in it, too. I guess you can tell how that came out! This is me, in my UT souvenir hat from an airport gift shop, drinking a tall Tazo Zen tea with three Splendas; Chelsey, running the shop and having a lot of fun doing it - you can probably tell that; and my friend Lou, drinking a green tea latte, and who was traveling with me to the conference. You probably travel, and know what it's like getting through connecting airports. Having a person like Chelsey with her personality and fun intersecting your journey will make a big difference. Starbucks made the right choice, definitely. Stop by and see Chelsey at the Starbucks in Texas at DFW near gate E8 and tell her I said, "Hi!" Waiting on some renderings to finish. I've seen people take similar pictures explaining what's in their backpack/bag. Thought I would do the same thing with my architecture studio space. General stuff: 1. I prefer clean spaces, but once I get going on a project I tend to not throw things away until the end. Hence my desk gets more and more cluttered. 2. If I don't know what to do with something. I put it on the wall above my desk. 3. Our facilities in Idaho are pretty rudimentary. We have amazing faculty, but the buildings and furnishings are still lacking. This is one of the nicer desks that students get to use. Most of them are simply doors resting on sawhorses.
