During the summer of 2006 Village Coaches of Findon tried running an open-top service in Worthing. The success of the venture can be gauged from its failure to re-appear in subsequent years. On my first attempt to see the service on 21st August, a 40-minute torrential downpour (which I got caught in whilst changing buses at Partridge Green) at runout time had caused closed-top vehicles to be substituted, which was a shame as the rest of the day was sunny with only occassional drizzle, but it gave me a rare opportunity to photograph and ride on Village Coaches' school bus fleet in service.
