A poppet valve is a valve consisting of a hole, usually round or oval, and a tapered plug, usually a disk shape on the end of a shaft also called a valve stem. The shaft guides the plug portion by sliding through a valve guide.

In addition to the post below, I've got some pictures of Julian Mills tailwind, G-BPYJ. It's a very lightweight W8, with a continental PC60 ex GPU engine. He had fabricated a new 4 into 1 exhaust system along the principles set out in Kent Pacers book, " Speed with economy" He makes the stainless anti reversion cones that fit on the exhaust ports, and uses tubing and bends from Burns stainless to make up the rest of the system. The tube are designed to be equal in length at about 40" from the exhaust valve to the collector. I thought you might be interested. Mike Mears.

Leroy Pensonau with my 72 Gran Torino Sport and his 1970 Mach 1 Mustang,early 1972.Just before this photo was taken,Leroy had his new 14X8 Cragar S/S wheels and F60X14 Goodyear Polyglas GT tires installed.His Mustang also had the new for 1970,351 Cleveland 4 barrel plus the shaker hood.In 1974 or 75,he had an exhaust valve burn,he put it in his barn/garage on blocks and he has not touched it since.I keep bugging him about getting it on the road again,so far with no luck.
