Adjusting Pressure Regulator Valve

adjusting pressure regulator valve
    pressure regulator
  • A pressure regulator is a valve that automatically cuts off the flow of a liquid or gas at a certain pressure. Regulators are used to allow high-pressure fluid supply lines or tanks to be reduced to safe and/or usable pressures for various applications.
  • A device for controlling and maintaining a uniform outlet gas pressure.
  • A spring-loaded diaphragm-type pressure-relief valve which governs the pressure of the fuel delivered to the fuel injectors by the fuel pump and returning the excess to the tank.
    adjusting
  • (adjust) align: place in a line or arrange so as to be parallel or straight; "align the car with the curb"; "align the sheets of paper on the table"
  • Alter or move (something) slightly in order to achieve the desired fit, appearance, or result
  • (adjust) adapt or conform oneself to new or different conditions; "We must adjust to the bad economic situation"
  • Permit small alterations or movements so as to allow a desired fit, appearance, or result to be achieved
  • Adapt or become used to a new situation
  • (adjust) alter or regulate so as to achieve accuracy or conform to a standard; "Adjust the clock, please"; "correct the alignment of the front wheels"
    valve
  • device in a brass wind instrument for varying the length of the air column to alter the pitch of a tone
  • control consisting of a mechanical device for controlling the flow of a fluid
  • A membranous fold in a hollow organ or tubular structure, such as a blood vessel or the digestive tract, that maintains the flow of the contents in one direction by closing in response to any pressure from reverse flow
  • a structure in a hollow organ (like the heart) with a flap to insure one-way flow of fluid through it
  • A cylindrical mechanism in a brass instrument that, when depressed or turned, admits air into different sections of tubing and so extends the range of available notes
  • A device for controlling the passage of fluid through a pipe or duct, esp. an automatic device allowing movement in one direction only

Spent the day working on the Dragonfire. Had the usual arguments with Dad, Spent most of the day in a terrible mood because we have such difficulty communicating with each other. He's getting angry with me because I didn't arrive to work early enough and I am angry with him because he just dives into the job with his bad back and knee rather than take a minute to explain what he's trying to accomplish and let me take over. We had to make two trips to the hardware store to get the parts we needed and still we came up short somehow. There's one special part that has gone missing which will need to be special ordered. I hope we can get that part in time for the big parade next month. We are running out of time. All the while Dad is under pressure of his own. He's got a big deal he's working on and his computer suddenly throws snake eyes and he's in a panic. He's about to rush out to Best Buy and I had to convince him to stick around long enough to hook up the new transformer and solonoid valve. All the while we are looking at the sky get darker and darker as the storm front rolls in. There has been a little bit of rain, but we know we're gonna get soaked pretty soon. We get to the point where we are ready to start testing all the changes we made and Jerry can't find the hose for the manometer. So we are searching for the tube when we realize we are out of time. The storm is upon us. So we closed up shop for the day without getting where we had hoped to be, where we really need to be. But we did make some progress. Everything is hooked up (except for the right pilot with the missing special fitting) and the new system seems to all be functioning as expected. Now we just need to adjust everything and see if it's going to work.

Around Labor Day last year, we got a new dishwasher from a big box retailer. It hummed along nicely for four months. The day before Christmas Eve, I came home from work to see, Eddy, sitting in the middle of the kitchen. The expression on his face was “I had nothing to do with it.” “It” was an inch of water on the floor coming out of the dishwasher. The basement had water seeping through the ceiling. A call to big box, and a repair man came and ordered a replacement part—a part that the repair man said he has never seen fail. The part was installed. Eight days later, it failed again. The repair man confirmed this. He suggested calling the water company, to confirm that the pressure was normal. The water company new my street was high, but there should be a regulator valve a plumber could adjust. The plumber replaced the regulator valve, and verified the output pressure was now within specifications. Repair guy will be out to re-replace the part.
