25176 awaits its next turn of duty at Rugby, 31st January 1976. Originally D7526 it was delivered from Derby works to Toton during January 1965 as part of a large batch of Type 2’s replacing steam on the Midland Main Line. Shortly afterwards it was selected for a short tour of Eastern Region depots being transfered to Norwich in February 1965 and Finsbury Park in May 1965 before returning to Toton in June 1965. In 1978 it spent September and October in Derby works receiving a classified repair and dual brakes. 25176 survived a visit to Derby works in January 1984 for engine repairs as by this time spending limits for repairs were low and withdrawal was usually the result. After spending most of its working life allocated to Cricklewood or Willesden it transferred to Carlisle at the end of 1984. On the 10th March 1987 it was stopped at Longsight for attention to engine valve and rocker gear. These repairs were not sanctioned and it was withdrawn after twenty two years service 25176 left Longsight on the 26th November 1987 for Vic Berry’s yard at Leicester via Crewe, Leicester (17th December 1987), Toton (6th January 1988), Leicester (8th January 1988) finally arriving on the 21st January 1988. It was broken up in July 1988.
