![]() Orienteering is a competitive international sport that combines running with navigation. It is a timed race in which individual participants use a specially created, highly detailed, map to select routes and navigate through diverse terrain and visit control points in sequence. There are twenty-one Irish Orienteering clubs with approximately 1,100 members ranging in age from three to ninety-three. The majority of Orienteering events involve running in forest and open mountain areas, but occasionally we organise Park Orienteering, Mountain Bike Orienteering (MTBO) and Night Orienteering (Night-O) events. For a list of areas where we run events, go to our Mapped areas page You can also try orienteering at one of the Permanent Orienteering Courses in forests around the country. |
