The first night he could almost take the oil pan off, but lacked a tool in the end. It was close to midnight when he finished. We realized we?d be sleeping in the car. All of our camping stuff, and stuff was set up in Aljezur at the camp site there, so we were free falling. I had nightmares about falling while in the car into the cliffs all night. Quite horrible. The nice thing was to see the beautiful light at 7 a.m. the next day. Our short fix it job kept getting pushed back from having it fixed by 10 a.m. to what turned out to be 11 p.m. -ish and us having to dart back to the camp site to get in the doors before they closed at midnight. An adventure. We?ve decided that if we ever buy another car, or a next car, it will be a sort of jeep so we can go on the roads that we always find ourselves on. We?re always getting lost on back roads. And it?s??wonderful.

This is not an awl (the tool) Nor is it a nail set, any longer. As you can see it is bent. It wasn't meant to be the tool that pounded out the broken screw, that held the shim that held the battery, that started the truck. But that's what it is now. It is joined with the broken, welded, screw, mount, that used to sit tight, next to the plastic casing, next to the battery, in the truck. The truck has a new battery, and I need a new nail set. All in all, it's better than having a mechanic do it. At least it's fun to see what wood tools can do, when called upon. Oh, and friends that share poundings, rock.
