View from my new South Waterfront Apartment. On Monday, the lease on the 2bed/ 2bath I was sharing came to an end in South Waterfront. I have loved my building and South Waterfront so I decided to take a place to myself two floors up in the same building. Hands Down the shortest move I ever made! I've seen a lot of buildings in Portland thanks to my current work and really think this two year old apartment is one of the best designed. It focuses on huge windows to let in TONS of natural light. When you live in a region that is better known for clouds than sun, letting in natural light is pretty big. There's also a gym with a 270 view as you work out with top-notch, high end equipment. Next to the gym is a gorgeous common room. The management does a nice job putting on events for residents that usually involve booze and Oregon brews! My other apartment in this building had a 180 degree view. I could look out on the other towers from my room and see Mount Hood on clear days. From my new room, I have a Southern View out of Portland looking towards the Sellwood Bridge, Lake Oswego and the Willamette River. My building at the moment, is the most Southern High Rise in Central City Portland. The City is basically to my back in this video. As you can see in this shot, their are still some industrial buildings remaining. The area is slowly being transformed from an industrial brownfield to the newest high rise district in Portland and Oregon. The bulk of the towers that have already been constructed were modeled after towers in Vancouver. Eventually who ever has this apartment years after I leave will not have the same view as other high rise towers will be built on land to the left, ahead and to the right. The traffic on the right is US I-5. I-5 is basically the "95 of the West Coast." It goes from Mexico to Canada and comes into many of the major West Coast cities.
