For FGR's Celebrating My Father. I was primarily raised by my dad and anyone who knows the both of us will say, She is her father's daughter. He easily gets credit for a large portion of who I am. My love of photography came from him, my interest in fixing things and DIYing also from him. That toolbelt I'm wearing was a gift from him for my 18th birthday. The next year he gave me a Dremmel tool with a router attachment. I can throw a pretty sweet spiral, too. He used to let me sit in the OR as a teenager and watch him do surgery which is why I'm in anesthesia today. We have the same blue eyes, the same dry sense of humor and, I hope, the same bedside manner with patients. When I turned 18 I told both parents I was going to get a tattoo just to see what they'd say. My mom said, I'll find you and pull you out of the tattoo shop by your hair! Ha! And my dad said..."Hmmm...maybe I"ll go get one with you." We both have red roses on our ankles. Not the tat I'd pick for myself but I figured he was cool enough to do it with me, he could pick. My dad is such a cool guy.

I remember whin I was a kid, my dads workshop wat the most awsome place to be. We would spend days constructing some of the coolest stuff that I have ever seen. Go-carts, mini-bikes and rockets. We once straped a lawnmower engine to a couple of pontoons and made an eveglades boat of sorts, that I at the age of nine piloted seven miles up the miami-erie canal. There were boxes lable flamible,corossive and explosive, every size nut bolt and screw that you could imagine.And any tool you would ever need. Dads garage was cool,someday mine will be that cool too.
