Large metric wrench : Channellock ratcheting wrench set : Striking wrench. Large Metric Wrench
Campagnolo front derailleur replacement cable anchor bolt This derailleur was rescued after the previous owner had damaged and then replaced it. The threads for the cable fixing screw on this parallelogram arm had stripped. The simple solution was to insert a slightly longer Campagnolo hex-head bolt (mine had 12 mm. of threads... the original was perhaps 7 mm.) and in this case I added a Nylock type nut. A simple hex nut would have sufficed, but this bolt was long enough to accept this wider nut... one which I just happened to have handy. If I were to use a thinner nut (really, a more attractive option) I would just cut a couple millimeters off of the bolt with a Dremel rotary tool to make a nice flush fit through the bolt. With this thicker nut I reversed the position of the bolt to prevent the nut from hitting against the adjuster screws. With a thinner nut I could simply insert the bolt in the same position as the original. In either case a second 8 mm open end wrench would be used to hold both the nut and bolt while the cable is fastened. If the adjuster screws were too close, the end of the alloy arm could simply be bent outward a little to allow just a bit of additional clearance. Personally, I would be wary of tapping the alloy arm for a larger diameter bolt, but I suspect this has also been done and it would be easy enough to tap out the soft alloy. The Campagnolo bolt which I used here has the same nicely plated hex head as the original... so I may eventually cut the bolt down, revert it back to the orientation of the original, and then use a thinner nut... first, I'll need to find a nice thin metric nut... Yes, always one more minor project... DSCF0037b How to Tie a Spider Web
Here's how you can create a giant Spider Web using rope and a frame with 24 eye bolts. You can use this technique to weave a spider web at any scale, as long as you have an even number of at least 24 points to fasten to, around four sides. In this video, I used 200 feet of 1/4" rope and a strong-but-lightweight frame I built with four sections of 3"-diameter PVC pipe from a hardware store. (You can use larger PVC pipe or wood. '''Materials Needed '''(as shown): (Metric conversions shown on video.)
