Project Description:

How does our "power" connect us to the rest of the world?

We seek to provide students the opportunity to share their power with others, to showcase their efforts and growth and lead them to similar success in the future.

To do this, we will explore this essential question, "How does our "power" connect us to the rest of the world?"  Students will examine their own power and how this power affects themselves and the world.  They will present their power through stories and story telling. Is there an event that has helped define who they are today?  Has there been an experience in which they realized their own power?  In what ways do we listen to or tell stories?  And how can stories effect other people and help others realize their own "power"?

Radio lends itself well to our objective.  As a forum to showcase our stories and the power of storytelling, we will create a radio program infused with music, storytelling, reporting and poetry.  Students will participate in this project by telling their stories (through interviews, video, writing and radio), editing stories and interviews, and choosing music that creates the mood and theme of the radio show.  Students will accurately recreate a radio show by including "power"-themed advertisements.

In an effort to learn from others (continuing the theme of sharing power) our project will include our audience's reactions to our stories of power, as well as the opportunity to contribute to the radio program with new stories about "power".
