In order to do this we need to examine multiple sources of information, cross reference material, and identify bias in the information as well as recognize the purpose of such bias. For this project, students will be exposed to multiple sources of information on various social issues. They will focus on documentaries and online articles and interviews. After familiarizing themselves with forms of research and clues to recognize and analyze bias, they will choose a social issue that is important to them. Students will create an online power point presentation (google presentation) that showcases their social issue and how it is represented in various forms of media. After examining these resources they will develop their own opinion on their social issue that is based on evidence from their research. Finally, students will use their google presentations as a catalyst for creating change that directly connects to their social issue, either by working with special interest groups or creating action plans on concrete steps to take to improve their community with regards to their social issue. | Please leave your comments here.
